S&T foundation level

This 3 hour workshop is run by 3 facilitators.  It uses a mix of small group work, lectures and rehearsals to teach participants how to have an evidence-based, structured conversation with someone who has concerns or is distressed.

SATFAC courses

The SATFAC course was developed by UHSM in collaboration with the Maguire Communication Skills Training Unit at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.  It teaches people who meet the person specification how to be a SAGE & THYME facilitator.

SAGE & THYME ACP workshop

This 3.5 hour workshop is run by 3 facilitators and consists of a mix of small group work, lectures and rehearsals.  During the workshop, learners focus on effective communication skills that help to open an advance care planning conversation.  The structure provides a consultation guide as concerns and issues are disclosed.

Reflect & Refresh workshop

The one day Reflect & Refresh workshop has been developed to support people who have passed the SATFAC course, and wish to update and develop facilitation skills and support the quality assurance aspect of SAGE & THYME.

Webinar dates

To keep SAGE & THYME facilitators up-to-date with the latest developments, a series of webinars has been planned.

The topic for each webinar will be released a few weeks beforehand and all SAGE & THYME key contacts and facilitators will be notified by email.

Attending a webinar is free but registration is required in order to receive the access details by email.

The team welcomes suggests for webinar topics from SAGE & THYME facilitators and key contacts.

 

Webinar dates

SAGE & THYME Online

SAGE & THYME Online was created during the COVID-19 pandemic and is equivalent to the SAGE & THYME Foundation Level workshop.

This 2 hours and 45 minutes workshop is run by 2-3 facilitators. 

It is highly interactive using a mix of small group work, a presentation and demonstration films, to teach participants how to have an evidence-based, structured conversation with someone who has concerns or is distressed.

SAGE & THYME Online dates

SAGE & THYME Online is run on Zoom (using an account held by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust).

Note that each delegate will need their own:

  • laptop/PC with webcam
  • speaker and microphone/headset
  • internet speed of at least 2.5mbps upload and download
  • device charger (so don't lose power!)
  • Zoom app downloaded onto their laptop/PC
  • pen and paper

Note that smartphones are not suitable for accessing the training.

Morning workshops are run 10:00-12:45 and afternoon workshops are run 14:00-16:45.

Online SATFAC (OLS)

The Online SATFAC (SAGE and THYME Facilitator) course (OLS) teaches people who meet the person specification how to be a facilitator of the SAGE & THYME Online workshop.

The 1.5 day course immediately follows a SAGE & THYME Online workshop (in the afternoon after the workshop and the following day) and covers:

Online SATFAC & Assessment dates

Online SATFAC (OLS) is run on Zoom (using an account held by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust).
